Materials

3 balls t-shirt yarn 900 grams

You can buy t-shirt yarn here or here

Crochet Hook No. 12

foam 10x50x50cm

Stretchy fabric ca 140x 80cm

Ikea comforter 150x200cm Mysa grass or fiberfill 150x200cm

Terms:

L=chainstitch

V= US terms single crochet

V= UK terms double crochet

1 inch = aprox 2,21cm

52,5 cm = aprox 24 inch

Crochet a chain of about 35 L.

Skip the first L and crochet then a tour with 34 V.

At the end of every row crochet 1L

Turn piece and work with V and you have to crochet underneath both loops

After 2 rows you have to check if your work is aprox 52,5cm wide.

If different, start again and adjust the amount of chainstitches

You crochet until you have a piece of 52.5 x 105cm. Finish all threads.

Fold your work at the center. Sew the sides tightly with a thread of t-shirt yarn .

Sew a pillowcase of stretchy fabric.

Lay the piece of foam on the comforter and fold the comforter around the piece of foam Put it in the pillowcase.

Put het cushion in the crochet cover. Maybe you’ll need some assistance, because it’s a bit tight .

Close the pillow with a thread of t-shirt yarn

Your pillow is ready! Have fun with it!

Baskets made with t-shirt yarn

The baskets shown in the picture are from Annie O Crafts and are made with rope.

The pattern is very easy and can also be done with our shirt yarn, you need about one ball. These basket are great for some home deco and you can make them in every color you desire and as big and as high as you would like.

They are very nice on the side of the nursery, for balls of wool, magazines, as a wastebasket in the office, toys, you name it. If you put in a glass vase, then you can also put flowers in.

Still on the run, searching for free patterns made with Zpagetti t-shirt yarn, which you can buy here, I stumbled upon this great doily rug pattern. This pattern is from Creative Jewish Mom

Actually you can use every doily pattern you can find and when you make it with Zpagetti t-shirt yarn, it will become a rug, because you’ll use bulky yarn and a thick crochet needle.

Zpagetti t-shirt yarn is a very strong an sustainable product!

I will always be looking for new patterns and project which can be made with The shirt yarn and this time I stumbled upon a very easy DIY for a necklace. On the blog from Melissa Esplin it’s very clearly explained how to make these beautiful necklaces.

Crochet stool made with The Shirt Yarn

Shopping list

  • For this stool I used 2 bundles The shirt yarn 
  • The base for the stool you can find here.
  • a crochet needle that 12mm thick
  • about 1 yard tricot/stretch fabric in the same color as your yarn
  • a staple gun (be careful)

Okay here we start:

Make  9 sc in magic loop

row 1 crochet 2 sc in every sc from the row before is 18

row 2 crochet 1 sc in every sc from the row before

row 3 crochet 1 sc in the sc from the row before in the next 2 sc repeat 9x is 27 sc

row 4 crochet 1 sc in every sc from the row before

row 5 crochet 2×1 sc in the sc from the row before in the next 2 sc repeat 9x is 36 sc

row 6 crochet 1 sc in every sc from the row before

row 7 crochet 3×1 sc in the sc from the row before in the next 2 sc repeat 9x is 45 sc

row 8 crochet 1 sc in every sc from the row before

row 9 till the hight you’ll need, crochet 1 sc in every sc from the row before, finish your work

Cover the base with the tricot/stretch fabric and attach it at the bottom from the stool base with the staple gun.

Cover it with your beautiful crochet cover and your stool is finished.

DSC_0163When I find a pattern which I can make with The shirt yarn, I want to try and share it.

Most of the patterns on my blog are made with The shirt yarn.

The shirt yarn is recycled t-shirt fabric and available in a lot of colors, I sell this in my shop www.lvly.nl and people from al over the world can buy, this great material here.

Of course you are free to use any other kind of bulky yarn as long as it matches the needle size, for this pattern.

crochet pouf pattern

poef grijs blogThe pouf is made with t-shirt yarn, which you can buy at for example Etsy and you have to crochet this pouf with at least a needle size that’s 10 mm thick. You can use a thicker needle but make sure your yarn matches the needle size. Thicker yarn and needle will only make the pouf bigger.

For a pouf 50cm cross cut you’ll need two 135 yard bundles, for a pouf 60cm cross cut you’ll need three

The pouf is crochet in a spiral, so you have to make sure that at the beginning of each row, you put a piece off material so you know where the row ends and starts

Chain 7 and close the chain with a slip stitch to a circle

–         row 1, crochet 12 st. in the circle

–         row 2, crochet 2 st. in every st. repeat 12x (=24)

–         row 3, crochet 2 st. in every second st repeat 12x(=36)

–         row 4, crochet2 st. in every third st. repeat 12x (=48)

–         row 5, crochet 2 st. in every fourth st. repeat 12x(=60)

–         row 6, crochet 2 st. in every fifth st. repeat 12x(=72)

–         row 7, crochet 2 st. in every sixth st. repeat 12x(=84)

–         row 8, crochet 2 st. in every seventh st. repeat 12x(=96)

–         row 9, 10, 11, 12 crochet 1 st. in every st

–         row 13, crochet every 7th en 8th st.together repeat 12x(=84)

–         row 14, crochet every 6th en 7th st.together repeat 12x(=72)

–         row 15, crochet every 5th en 6th st.together repeat 12x=60)

–         row 16, crochet every 4th en 5th st. together repeat 12x(=48)

Make out off stretch fabric an inside cover and fill the pouf

The bottom

crochet 7 slip stiches and close the chain with a half crochet to a circle

–         row 1, crochet 12 st. in the circle

–         row 2, crochet 2 st. in every st. (=24)

–         row 3, crochet 2 st. in every 2nd st.(=36)

–         row 4, crochet 2 st. in every 3th st. (=48)

Sew with an overhand stitch the bottom to the pouf and ready!!!!

I have to admit, this is a tutorial on how to make a pouf from Pickles and not my own, but I love it. Pickles has a very good pattern and if I find the time I really want to make this.

To make this bag I used 1 skein The shirt Yarn (about 800 gram) which you can buy here, a pair of bag handles which you can buy here a pair of knitting needles nr 17 and a 10mm thick crochet hook.

Cast on 40 stitches and work in garter stitch till your work measures about 35 inch, cast of
